Yoga Ayurveda Therapist Training Course, Nov 2024 – Feb 2025

A Diploma For Yoga Practitioners and Teachers:  Ayurveda Lifestyle, Nutrition and Yoga Coaching

This course is an immersion into Ayurveda and Yoga.

It is created especially for Yoga practitioners who are interested who would like to deepen and advance their Yoga practice and teaching, as well as to supplement the benefits that Yoga practice brings on and off the mat, with the teachings and practices of Ayurveda. 

This is a comprehensive training in the timeless  wisdom of Ayurveda and the deeper teachings of Yoga.

You are going to learn the many ways in which Ayurveda and Yoga complement each other to enrich your Yoga practice, advance your teaching (if you are a Yoga teacher), and positively impact broader life. 

You are going to develop the understanding, skills and confidence to integrate Ayurveda into your personal Yoga practice, and to coach others with this potent blend of Ayurveda and Yoga. You will learn how to interweave Ayurveda and Yoga to transform the whole being – body, heart and mind. 

The course will teach you how to make appropriate shifts in your own choices on and off the mat, in your Yoga practice, lifestyle and diet so that you can maintain strength and balance in your whole being, through every stage of life, and throughout the year. 

And you will be able to  guide others with the right Ayurveda and Yoga practices to do the same. 

Your tools will be persoanlised Ayurveda nutrition, lifestyle, Yoga posture, breath, mantra and meditation and awareness practices.

Also, you will learn how to teach seasonally adjusted group Yoga classes, and you will receive the outlines and structure for 4 different Ayurveda Yoga workshops to teach to your students and clients. 

This course is registered with the the Complementary Medical Association, and will fulfill the criteria for you to register with the Ayurveda Professionals Association as a 100hr Yoga Ayurveda Therapist. 

On completion of supplementary case studies, you will also be able to register as an Ayurveda Lifestyle and Nutritional Consultant.

On this course you will learn:

  • the foundational principles of Ayurveda anatomy and physiology
  • Ayurveda cosmology 
  • the meeting point of Ayurveda and Yoga
  • the significance of Ayurveda for Yoga practitioners and teachers
  • Ayurveda types, and their inherent strengths and weaknesses
  • Further foundational principles of Ayurveda.
  • an Ayurveda perspective on Yoga posture, breath, mediation and mantra practices
  • Ayurveda lifestyle and nutrition according to Ayureda type.
  •  asessment skills for identifying Ayurveda types and their imbalances
  • how to select personalised Ayurveda dietary, lifestyle, Yoga posture, breath. meditation and mantra practices to restore balance to body, heart and mind, 
  • the effects of the seasons in Ayurveda, how to navigate them personally, and how to guide others through them. 
  • the importance of seasonal junctures and how to adapt a Yoga practice, lifestyle and diet at these times. 
  • the healing power of mantra, pronunciation and how to prescribe for healing.
  • workshop structures for guiding groups through the fundamentals of Ayurveda

You will also experience Ayurveda Yoga and meditation classes throughout he course.

At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • adapt your personal Yoga, dietary and lifestyle choices according to your stage of life, the seasons, and your Ayurveda type for sustained strength and balance all-year round.
  • assess the Ayurveda type of others
  • recommend Ayurveda nutrition, lifestyle, Yoga posture, breath, sound, and meditation practices accordingly. 
  • safely advise on the use of typical kitchen herbs, spices, teas and  a handful of prominent Ayurveda herbs for extra support and balance in body, mind and heart. 
  • Create group Yoga classes according to time of day, lunar phase, season and overall stage of life of your students. 
  • Offer specifically structured Ayurveda and Yoga workshops. 

A TYPICAL DAY ON THE COURSE: 

9.00am –  Ayurveda Yoga Class with opening chants, asana, pranayama, meditation 

10.30am Class debrief – the Ayurveda significance of the practices selected and their effect. 

11.00am Tea break

11.30am Yoga Sutras – an Ayurveda perspective

12.00am Ayurveda Class / Review of materials

1pm LUNCH

2.30pm – Ayurveda Class

4.30pm Homeworks, closing meditation and chants. 

 

ON GRADUATION: 

On graduation from the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance and detailed break down of aspects of Ayurveda covered in your studies. 

The course meets the Ayurvedic Professionals Association requirements for APA member Yoga Ayurveda Therapist registration. 

On completion of optional case studies, you will be eligible for registration with the CMA (Complementary Medical Association) as an Ayurveda Lifestyle and Nutrition Advisor, and will meet APA criteria to register as the same. 

You will not be eligbile to diagnose and treat disease states, however we are offering further training towards this end. 

 

FURTHER AYURVEDA TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:

On graduation from the Yoga Ayurveda Therapist Course, you will have completed  over 100 hours of study and training. 

The Yoga Ayurveda Therapist Course is a complete training in itself and one of the first rungs on our ladder of further trainings. 

If you would then like to take your training even further, you can carry out supervised case studies based on your learning on the course to graduate from our Ayurveda Diploma in Lifestyle and Nutrition Course. 

Supplemental training is also available in Ayurveda Cooking and Nutrition.

We can offer much for you to extend your skills as a Yoga teacher so that you can offer your clients and students a complete package of personalised self-care for body, heart and mind which includes Yoga, lifestyle, nutrition, cooking, and meditation.

Additionally, we are collaborating with an esteemed Academy and lineage of Ayurveda vaidyas (doctors) in Kerala India, to support you through further study if you wish to deepen and expand your expertise in Ayurveda even further.

This includes including Ayurveda Body Treatments training, and Ayurveda Therapist 500hr training.

These courses take place via a mix of both online livestreamed classes,and in-person immersions in the UK and Kerala, India. 

Our cross-cultural collaborations will ultimately qualify you as an Ayurveda Therapist, able to offer clinical 1-1 consultations advising and treating with nutrition, body treatments, Yoga Therapy, lifestyle, breath, and sound.

You will have had some of the best teachers around. 

The teachers and doctors that we are collabrorating with from India are internationally respected and are passionate about safe-guarding and conveying responsible and authentic, in-depth Ayurveda, Yoga and Sound trainings. 

COURSE SCHEDULE, DATES & LOCATION:

The course is being run in collaboration with Serentiy Barn Yoga Studio, Southam Warwickshire across four day intensives from October 2024 – February 2025.

Dates are:

Thursday Oct 24th to Sunday Oct 27th

Thursday Nov 14th to Sunday Nov 17th

Thursday Jan 23rd to Sunday Jan 26th

Thursday Feb 20th to Sunday Feb 23rd.

There is then time to complete written case studies which will need to be submitted by March 31st 2025. 

There will be homework such as reading material, audios, and quizzes to complete in between the live intensives, as well as review of materials covered. It is recommended to allocate 4 hours of self-study per week during the course, and also until January 31st when your written case studies will be due for submission.

The course is £1500.00 and includes light lunches and teas during the live intensives.

PRE-REQUISITES: 

It is recommended that you have two years’ experience of consistent Yoga practice. 

You do not need to be a Yoga teacher, nor do you  need any prior Ayurveda experience. 

The Course Teachers:

Main Teacher:

Sara Palmer is the main course teacher and the founder of the Heart of Ayurveda Academy. She is an Ayurveda Practitioner, and a Senior Registered Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist and meditation teacher. 

She is passionate about the capacity of Ayurveda to empower each one of us with new levels of self-understanding, and whole person tools for transformation of body, heart and mind. 

She has been teaching Ayurveda as a way of life in workshops, retreats and courses for more than twelve years and is held to be inspiring, generous and dedicated in sharing the wisdom of Ayurveda. 

When not teaching she runs an Ayurveda clinic for 1-1 consultations and rejuvenation programmes, and loves cooking up new Ayurveda recipes and walks in nature with her lovely Spanish rescue dog. 

Guest Teacher:

Manish Vyas is a composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, He also assigns part of his time to teaching to a few earnest students. As a composer, he has composed hundreds of pieces, mainly in the devotional, mystical, folk, instrumental and Sufi genres. 

Carrying Indian music in his heart, one of his missions is to maintain the roots of Indian music. He is dedicated to transmitting the deep roots and core of the tradition and how it has been used in India for thousands of years, conveying with sincerity and authenticity the true meaning of Mantra Yoga.

We are honoured to have Manish join as a co-teacher on the Ayurveda Living course. He will introduce you the essential teachings on the practice of Mantra Yoga and the healing power of mantra, used frequently in Ayurveda. 

Manish lives in Switzerland and regularly returns to India. We hope that he will soon visit us in the UK again to offer his spiritually powerful and transporting mantra workshops and retreats.

Guest Teacher:

Prasad Ragnenkar is a Yoga Educator based in India who has taught in over 15 countries for the past 28 years. He has been a practitioner of Yoga for the last 38 years, studying both, in traditional lineages, as well as academically, with a Master’s degree in Philosophy. 

He is the Founder-Director of Yogaprasad Institute and conducts Yoga and Meditation Teacher Trainings, mentorship sessions, retreats, and workshops to spread the wisdom of traditional Yoga. He is regularly invited to speak at Indian Embassies, The European Commission, Yoga conventions, Schools, Corporate  bodies, and Charity organizations.   

Prasad is a skilled teacher who conveys the essence of Yoga and it’s deeper teachings with ease and grace. 

We are delighted that Prasad will teach the philosophy part of this course to guide us through the fundamental princples at the root of Ayurveda’s understanding of this Universe and it’s workings.

We hope to welcome Prasad to the UK for further teaching in the near future.

 

Dr Narayanan Nambi BAMS, Guest Speaker and Teacher/Coordinater of our Courses in India.

We are delighted that Ayurveda vaidya and University teacher of Ayurveda,  Dr Narayanan Nambi will give a closing address on this course and will introduce our further training opportunities for course graduates wanting to deepen their Ayurveda understanding under the guidance of a world-renowned Ayurveda academy and lineage of doctors in India.
